Lindum success at Ecobuild 2011 with biodiverse green roof mats
Within All things green
Did you go to Ecobuild?
If so, you would have found this popular exhibition daunting in its size and scope. However, helped by bespoke planning guides and an army of helpers, it was possible to plan your day to maximum advantage.
On the Lindum stand Stephen and Caroline were busy for all three days, and several visitors remarked on how refreshing it was, at an Eco show, to see real green products on a stand.
Quite simply, we were showing, as specialist vegetation mat growers, how straightforward it is to construct a green roof profile - focusing on the top down, the green bit that everyone sees!
Yes, you can have sedum if you like, and Lindum have, after numerous requests, producted a top quality British grown sedum mat with 16 different sedum varieties - our newly launched SedumPlus - which certainly struck a chord with architects and developers wanting to present an all British green roof to their carbon concious clients.

But the star of our show was our thoroughly biodiverse green roof mat, the Lindum Wildflower & Sedum Mat. What a picture it looks when in flower from April to September, and the designer of the unique mix, Dr Nigel Dunnett, arrived on our stand to admire his creation, for all the world like a Karl Lagerfeld or Stella McCartney enjoying his latest on the catwalk.
Not surprisingly, this innovation is already being mimicked, but Lindum's unique blend of flowers, herbs and sedums has been carefully chosen for drought tolerance, extended flowering season and attractiveness to pollinators and human observers alike.
We came home tired but encouraged that we had opended the eyes of a considerable number of visitors to the possibilities of transforming inhospitable roofs to hitherto unimagined delights.
Case Studies
Arden Grove School, Norwich
The Lindum Wildflower & Sedum Mat was used in the project at Arden Grove Infant & Nursery School to demonstrate to the children that a building including the roof could be constructed completely with environmentally friendly materials.
