Chelsea Flower Show - medal winning garden complete with Lindum green roof
Within All things green
Turning down into the avenue of show gardens on the first day, the first thing to hit you is Nigel Dunnett's designed RBC New Wild Garden where the planting has been selected to provide high visual impact and wildlife value whilst being low maintenance and thus being ideal for urban spaces. The wildlife certainly appreciated the planting as apparently the garden has more bees than anywhere else on the site!
The eye is drawn immediately to the garden studio, which is a shipping container brilliantly converted by John Little of Green Roof Shelters with a biodiverse green roof in full flower. Our Wildflower & Sedum green roof mat had very successfully transplanted to Chelsea and was quite a talking point. The green roof absorbs rainwater gradually releasing it into the water pools below which overflow and distribute water into the garden.
Nigel has brought together ares of woodland, wet meadow, perennial and dry meadow planting in a way in which many visitors can relate to, and the whole garden was brilliantly constructed and brought to life by another Yorkshire company, the Landscape Agency.
Nigel and John, as well as Patrick and Ed from the Landscape Agency, were fielding questions all day and surely have more busy days ahead.
